Welcome to the
Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust
Our Aim is to Make the Theatre
Accessible to Everyone
The Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust (WCTT) is an
independent charitable trust.
Its primary aim is to reach out to the local community and provide exciting and innovative theatre-based educational opportunities, focused on the New Wimbledon Theatre and Studio, for young people, particularly secondary school children, who are excluded, disadvantaged in the broadest sense of the word or those with special needs . |
|
Since the Trust established its education function more than 5000 people, mostly aged between 11-18, have participated in either an event or been involved in a project. This work is on-going.
"...At a time when schools are struggling
to give the arts the curriculum time the subject deserves…the
work of the Trust is vital to local schools and will provide the
extra dimension to what we do in the classroom." Ian
Newman, Head Teacher, Raynes Park High School
"A valuable, worthwhile scheme adding
an important perspective to the children's experience...I thought
the performance was excellent and feel it is fantastic that we
are able to bring a whole year group at virtually no cost." Teacher
delegate to the Beginners Please! project
"The workshop went well, and they all
enjoyed it and grasped the concepts very easily. What
was most striking was the variance in age - there are one or two
smaller children who are very outgoing and confident. There are
also one or two children who are less confident and respond well
to encouragement and inclusion." Report from a Youth Theatre Workshop
