Act One: The Mermaid that Saved the Cow

Plastic pollution, a river, a mermaid and a cow: welcome to Act One’s summer project

On Sunday 7 July, Act One shared its work so far on The Mermaid that Saved the Cow, a piece of original musical theatre that will now be developed into a full length musical by the Brent Youth Theatre, based in Wembley.

This collaborative project uses movement and music to tell the true story of Lindsey Cole, who saved a stricken cow from drowning during a 200-mile Thames swim to raise awareness of single use plastic pollution.

An invited audience was thrilled to see this work in progress (and the single use plastic involved in the making of this original piece of theatre is destined to be reused in the evolving production).
