Introducing our shiny new season and celebrating big news from Arts Council England
Auditions have taken place and our 2019-20 company is ready to start work (and play) this Sunday.
Congratulations to everyone who auditioned successfully and is joining us this season!
Now the fun really begins. From Sunday onwards, we’ll be preparing for a unique season of shows fusing classic literature with fresh interpretations.
The first of our three theatre spectacles will be performed by Act Two in February 2020 – and it’s a super special event.
A collaboration with Merton Music Foundation, TWIST is a new version of the Oliver Twist story, inspired by the Dickens novel.
Our 20 young actors will work with professional writers, musicians and practitioners, creating an original musical event to debut on the main stage at New Wimbledon Theatre. We’re expecting an audience in excess of 2,500 over the five performances, including a host of local primary schools.
We’re delighted to annouce that TWIST is being made possible thanks to a generous grant from Arts Council England, supported using public funding by the National Lottery.
This crucial funding is the cornerstone of our 2019-20 season as Act One and Act Three will respond to TWIST by choosing their own classic novels to adapt for performance in March 2020: expect plenty more twists on two familiar stories.
As soon as we have more news on all three performances, and how to get tickets, we’ll share it here first.
Don’t forget your fees
Our affordable membership fees enable us to keep the Young Actors Company running, contributing to the costs of running a youth theatre in London.
If you had a successful audition, you’ll shortly be receiving your fee note for the term ahead and we’d like to thank parents and carers in advance for their prompt payments and for supporting the Young Actors Company.
Don’t forget that we also operate an Open Door scheme for young people who cannot afford the membership fee; the scheme is designed to cover the full cost of annual membership.
