Join our youth theatre Wimbledon

The Young Actors Company is out for summer – but if you want to join our youth theatre in Wimbledon, book an audition in September.

It’s been an amazing year at the Young Actors Company – and we’re already looking forward to the 2019/2020 season.

If you’d like to join our affordable youth theatre – or apply for a bursary place – now is the time. A limited number of audition slots are still available, and we’d love to meet you on 8 September 2019.

If you’re successful in the workshop audition, you’ll be rehearsing every week at New Wimbledon Theatre’s studio space, working with professional writers and directors, and performing in two productions over the course of the academic year.

If you’re joining school years 7 or 8 in September you can apply to join Act One.

This year, Act One performed two productions. The first was a co-devised play, Lemon Heaven, written by the company with director Nataliya Kharina; Lemon Heaven was a show that captured “the things we’re worried about as young people”.

The second production was The Mermaid that Saved the Cow, a developing piece of musical theatre about plastic polution that will now pass to the Brent Youth Theatre to be worked up into a full-length musical. Both shows were performed in front of a packed audience at New Wimbledon Theatre’s Studio

For students in school years 9 & 10, Act Two is the group for you.

This year, Act Two have starred in two very different productions. The first, Thames Tales, was part of the Merton Music Foundation’s spectacular Liquid History concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

The second production was Living Memory 2019, an annual project working with people in the local community who are living with dementia.

And if you’re in years 11, 12, 13 or aged up to 19 Act Three is our senior group.

Act Three worked on two sensational original pieces of theatre this year: set in 2040, To Walk on Water told the story of a modern miracle – and society’s reaction to it.

Swipe Right, Act Three’s second production, was a unique collaboration with students at Cricket Green School: a commentary on lives lived online – and the importance of creativity.

All six productions this year have been testament to the hard work of our very talented actors, directors and creative crew.

If you’d like to be part of this thriving youth theatre Wimbledon, we’d love to hear from you – and if you decide to go for it, here are some workshop audition tips for you to digest over the summer…
