Do you have a passion for performance? Ever imagined yourself in a film or on the stage? Join us in September and unlock your talent!
Calling all budding performers, directors and writers: the Young Actors Company will be recruiting new members in September 2020, and we’d love for you to join us.
You can apply to join if you’ll be in school years 7-13 in September. You don’t need any experience, just lots of enthusiasm and an interest in the performing arts – whether that’s acting, filmmaking, writing, directing or singing/dancing.
If you’re going into year 7 in September, we’d really like to hear from you. We know that starting secondary school is never easy, and this year will be even more challenging in light of the lockdown. But joining our inclusive, creative and confidence-building theatre group could help to make the new academic year lots more fun.
We want to provide a youth theatre that’s accessible to all, regardless of background or circumstances. That’s why our fees are so affordable – and this year we have 15 FREE places available through our Open Door scheme.
On the agenda from September, Act One (school years 7 & 8) will be working on a lockdown inspired comedy show for online sharing/broadcast; Act Two will be working on a large scale production for schools and wider audiences in partnership with a local theatre; and Act Three will be sharing the world premier of a 25-minute movie, written and produced by the group.
The health and safety of our members is our absolute priority, so we’re currently delivering our Sunday sessions online and will continue to do so until such time as we can return safely to the theatre.
Classes normally run every Sunday during term time in New Wimbledon Theatre’s studio space.
Applying to join the Young Actors Company is easy – just download a registration form here.
After returning the form, you’ll be invited to one of our 40-minute online workshop auditions in July and August, where you’ll have chance to meet a YAC director, work with existing Young Actors Company members and try drama-based activities – all in a moderated Zoom session.
All audition workshops are free to attend and you’ll find out if you’ve got a place after you’ve taken part.
So what are you waiting for? Download your 2020 application form today!
