Merton art exhibition

We’re inviting primary school children across the borough to contribute to our In Common project.

As we prepare for the premiere of our In Common movies at Canons House on Saturday July 17 2021 (link for tickets coming soon!), we’re also encouraging younger creatives across the borough to contribute.

We invited Merton primary schools to submit artwork from their pupils, inspired by our local commons. A selection of their work is set to be included in a July 2021 exhibition at Canons House, where our movies will also premiere on an outdoor screen.

Our creative producer, Andy Alty, says: “We are thrilled to see some fantastic artworks being created by local children as part of our In Common project celebrating Wimbledon and Mitcham Commons’ birthdays. We have some fantastically talented young artists in our borough.”

And it’s not too late for your school to join in, too. We’ve extended the deadline to June 18 – you can even email us when your artwork is ready and we will arrange a pick-up.

We hope the beautiful paintings shared in this post provide some inspiration: they were all submitted from The Sherwood School in Mitcham.

Thank you so much to the Sherwood students, from nursery to Year 6, who contributed to this post – we look forward to seeing some of your artwork in the exhibition!

If your Merton primary school would like to take part, you can contact Andy Alty for more information: andrewalty@wctt.org.uk
