Help us keep the Young Actors Company open and performing its crucial work in the community when you shop at Tesco in May and June 2019.
From 1 May 2019, our friends and supporters in and around Merton will have a brilliant opportunity to make a positive change to the community by contributing to one of our most exciting, innovative and meaningful projects – and helping us to keep the Young Actors Company running.
All you have to do is drop a blue token into the WCTT’s charity box at any participating Tesco branch whenever you shop there – winning the vote would provide us with crucial funds to keep running and fund our community projects.
One of our three community focused projects this summer is Living Memory, a unique blend of theatre and social engagement. for the second year running, our Young Actors will work with members of Merton’s Dementia Hub to learn about their memories of adolescence and young adult life, bringing those memories to life on stage.

This exciting inter-generational theatre project celebrates local elders, putting them and their life experiences into the spotlight. It forges links between two generations, changing minds about dementia and perceptions about those living with it.
WCTT/Living Memory is one of several projects you will be able to vote for every time you shop in local Tesco stores from Wednesday 1 May 2019 to Sunday 30 June 2019.
If we secure the highest number of votes in the Bags of Help initiative, we’ll receive £4,000 – this would help to fund Living Memory and the many other social engagement projects we run, ensuring the Young Actors Company makes an even bigger impact in the community this summer.
Here’s a list of stores taking part in the voting – and please do share the list with all your friends and neighbours, asking them to vote for us in-store:
COLLIERS WOOD TESCO EXPRESS, NEW MALDEN TESCO EXTRA, WIMBLEDON TESCO METRO, WIMBLEDON TESCO EXPRESS, MITCHAM STREATHAM ROAD TESCO EXPRESS, WIMBLEDON HILL TESCO EXPRESS, WIMBLEDON CHASE TESCO EXPRESS, WIMBLEDON MORDEN ROAD TESCO EXPRESS and TOOTING LONDON ROAD TESCO EXPRESS
To check the location of any of the above stores, please go to the Tesco website.

Save the Young Actors Company
Over the past 18-months we’ve launched a determined fundraising effort at WCTT.
After losing major funding and sponsorship, much of the responsibility to fund the Young Actors Company, keeping projects like Living Memory alive, is now down to the actors and their families, their friends and our supporters.
Sadly, we are only halfway to the fundraising target we needed to reach this year in order to run the Young Actors Company again in September.
We have never needed your help more.
You can support us by voting for WCTT in Tesco, coming along to our Young Actors Live benefit gig at The Old Frizzle on 27 June or – if you are a local business – signing up to sponsor one of our Young Actors for £500 a year (please contact us for details).
Parents and carers can also make a difference by contributing anything they can afford to the cost of their young person attending the youth theatre.
To borrow three famous words from Tesco – every little helps!
