On Wednesday 11 December 2019, south London band, The Modern Apes, will join forces with WCTT for a very special festive fundraiser.
Christmas is such a good excuse for a knees-up – and this December, WCTT is very excited to be hosting a fundraising night of music and dancing in the Jazz Room at The Bull’s Head, Barnes.
Playing a sizzling selection of sixties classics, from the Rolling Stones to Jackie Wilson, The Modern Apes has a family connection to WCTT.
Lead singer, Matt Swan, is the proud parent of one of our young actors – and he organised our WCTT Live event back in the summer, raising £500 to fund an Open Door place for a Young Actors Company member.
Now Matt is stepping onto the stage with his band, a mod-inspired four-piece, to play a cool pre-Christmas gig at an intimate riverside jazz club: the Jazz Room is steeped in history, having played host to megastars including Mick Jagger, Ronnie Scott and Jamie Cullum.
The band is taking an extended break from touring, so this gig is the last chance for fans to catch them live until summer 2020.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will help to fund another Open Door place for 2020, and there will be a chance to win fantastic prizes – and boost our fundraising total – on the night.
The venue is happy to welcome under-18s if they are accompanied by an adult, so this is a great excuse to get the family together before Christmas and raise money for a great cause.
Tickets (£11 each, including booking fee) are selling fast, so book yours today.
Treat yourself – it’s Christmas!
If you’d like to book a pre-gig dinner at The Bull’s Head, which is attached to the jazz club, you can email the pub directly: thebullshead@geronimo-inns.co.uk.
We’d like to thank all at The Bull’s Head, and Matt, Wilko and Bob from The Modern Apes, for their support – here’s to a groovy, 60s-inspired Christmas party…see you on the dance floor!
