It’s a new season at Young Actors Company with auditions on Sunday – and some fantastic news.
Wow! What a summer. While our Young Actors have been busy recharging their batteries and travelling the world (and taking part in various performing arts projects – an actor never really slows down!) we were delighted to collaborate with Attic Theatre Company on their free drama and filmmaking summer school for ages 10-14.
At the summer school, held across two venues in Mitcham, we ran creative drama workshops to introduce our unique theatre making and performance techniques: we hope some of the young performers we met will be auditioning to join our company on Sunday 8 September.

Talking of those all-important auditions on Sunday…feeling nervous? Well, there’s no need.
Our workshop auditions are designed to be fun; you don’t need to prepare lines or rehearse songs, we just want to see how well you get on with our directors and the other performers, and how much energy and enthusiasm you have to share.
If you’ve never been to a workshop style auditon before, these tips might help.
Bags of help success
We have a very exciting programme ahead this year…and we are absolutely delighted to announce that we were the winners of the local Tesco Bags of Help appeal!
That means we have the £4,000 we need to bring back our inter-generational work for the third year running in spring 2020 – and we’re planning a bigger and more ambitious project this time around, so watch this space.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to trustee (and YAC parent) Jean Kennedy for making our successful application to be in the running for the scheme, and to every company member, parent, carer, friend and family member who popped a blue token into our slot: you made this happen.
